SURVEY "IT employers from Oradea"

According to the opinion survey carried out at the beginning of the year with the aim of evaluating the organizational environment in the IT field in Oradea, the most important motivating factor for IT specialists is the salary.

Between 18.01-07.03.2019, we disseminated the opinion survey "IT employers from Oradea" among IT specialists in Oradea on the OradeaDevs group, a survey to which 64 IT specialists responded. According to the National Institute of Statistics, in Bihor county there are 1,329 employees with employment contracts in the IT field in 2018 (excluding telecommunications), but we do not have a structure by professional level categories. Compared to this number, the sample was 5% of employees in the IT field in Bihor.

26,56% of the respondents said their net income is between €800 and €1200 and 25% say they have a net income between €500 and €800, the average net salary in IT published by the National Institute of Statistics is €1448 in year 2018 at the national level. The majority of 65,63% of those who responded to the survey are employed with an employment contract, and 21,88% work under a collaboration contract as an Authorized Natural Person.

The most important factor in choosing a job is the salary, 90,63% of the respondents designated it as one of the main criteria together with projects that correspond to professional aspirations (56,25%).

All salary is the main retention factor, with 75% of respondents saying that this motivates them not to be open to other job offers, along with the projects they are working on (57,81%). It seems that salary is a deciding factor in many situations, but not so detached from other important reasons in making the decision to leave a job. Only 53,13% say that this would be a reason to start an active process of looking for another job, along with a bad relationship with the boss (45,31%).

Most IT specialists in Oradea (65,63%) would like better salary packages, but also professional development programs (51,56%) and improvement of reward criteria (43,75%).

The future prospects of the IT companies in Oradea are good according to the respondents, 87,50% of them saying that they will develop further. Regarding personal future plans, most respondents want to stay at their current job (31,25%), but about the same amount (28,13%) want to change their job in the same field, also in Oradea. The rest will want to work as a freelancer (15.63), will go abroad (9.38%), will look for a job in another city in Romania (3.13%), will change their field of activity (3.13%) and will develop own products or establish an IT service company (9.38%).
